Creating a journal to bring to therapy

Why I chose to create a basic journal

Like many of my clients, I too am plagued by obsessive and intrusive thoughts, have discord in relationships, feel overwhelmed, can't focus, spread myself too thin, honestly the list can go on if I allow it.

I decided I wanted to create the most basic, easy, not over complicated, small journal where anyone can just jot down a few things through the week that they can bring into therapy. So many times I will think to myself this is what I need to talk about next week when I see my therapist, and next week comes, and of course, nope. I either don't recall it (ADHD brain), or I reach for my phone and type it in my notes section, rushed. Sometimes it makes sense and other times it doesn't, hence wanting to set more intentional time to organize my thoughts in a simple way through use of this.

I want to connect to more people

Creating something is so vulnerable and instead of scrutinizing and re-drafting something 100x over, I've decided to just put it out there and get feedback. I want to create and share more, and take the risk of putting myself out there.

The biggest mistake for me would be avoiding a chance to connect with people. With that said, I want to know your thoughts, it's okay if you don't like something or think something could be added. Ideally I would love to keep building on this and have it be a forever standing resource for anyone who may benefit.

How to use the journal

Luckily, it's very simple.

There's a page that lists common emotions to help you flesh feelings out if you have a hard time putting words to what is going on internally. Use it as a way to jot down feelings throughout the week and bring your insights into therapy.

You can duplicate pages and use it as many times as you want. You can use it once, use it weekly, send it to a friend--whatever feels helpful.

More to come

In creating this, I have started working on some other projects that I will soon be talking about.
